about

The title is a slight reworking of a quote from a grade-school yearbook. The album cover was also painted by a grade-schooler. We wanted to make a grade-school record.

Most of the songs on this album are about money & people you’ve never met who are watching you. Some of the songs are about computers and boredom and dead friends and not sleeping. A few of the songs don’t have any words.

Some of this is about grade-school, a lot of it isn't.

Press:
"...what feels like the musical equivalent of hurtling down the side of a mountain...on one level noisy punk rock, but The Brankas feel like they obey absolutely no boundaries, which makes it great. Although there’s a steady stream of noise turning into intensity, you don’t know what’s around the corners of this song — and it’s perfect." -Captured Howls

"...so you know how 1994! sounded like Tiny Hawks but had just slightly less hardcore vibes? This takes something like (that) and makes it a bit more "post-something" ... if you were a fan of Pteradon or Shinobu, this might be exactly what you wanna hear!" -Maximum Rock n' Roll

“…beautifully unhinged and cohesively clashes with itself in precisely the ways The Brankas intended… each member of the San Francisco two piece’s stellar musicianship is as noticeable as the songwriting prowess that is evident in their previous releases.” -Tahoe Onstage

“All ten tracks are dedicated to sometimes electronic, sometimes just electric, and sometimes... borderline disturbing methods of experimentation. These two are here to surprise you…” -The Deli SF
